Media Relations Kamino invest in Canadian warehouse for Nikwax

Nikwax, the award winning manufacturer of a waterproofing product line for clothing,
footwear and outdoor equipment, recently looked to consolidate and expand their
American and Canadian market with the assistance of an experienced
fulfilment provider.

Nikwax initially required a fulfilment partner that could seamlessly assist them with
their expansion into the American market but as Canadian sales grew a requirement
for a separate fulfilment facility in Canada also became a priority.

Kamino’s 75,000 sq ft facility in Seattle provided the ideal solution for the storage
and distribution of American orders, with its proven track record of working with
many well established companies from the outdoor industry. Once it became
apparent that a further facility was required in Canada, where Kamino had no
presence, an existing partnership Kamino had with Super-Chain, an international
forwarder, again provided the ideal solution since Super-Chain had an existing
facility in Vancouver with spare capacity. Within the space of a few months,
Canadian stock held in Seattle was moved to Vancouver, ensuring savings
(including duty and delivery costs) for Nikwax and improved delivery times for
their customers.

Nikwax products are manufactured in the UK and Kamino undertake all aspects
of their North American supply chain from pick-up in the UK, shipping, storage
and pick/pack right through to the delivery to the end customer.

Nikwax sales orders are automatically received by Kamino and are split between
orders requiring despatch from Kamino’s Vancouver facility throughout Canada,
and orders requiring despatch from Kamino’s Seattle facility throughout the USA.
Nikwax have total visibility over their inventory and sales orders in Seattle and
Vancouver via the WebStore system developed at Kamino’s in-house IT department.

“The experience Kamino demonstrated with retail distributors throughout the USA
and Canada was a key factor in our decision to choose them as our new
fulfilment partner. Their established links and understanding of particularly exacting
distributor requirements has been invaluable and certainly helped to make our
committed venture into the North American market totally painless.”
